Open Space Arts today announced that it will stage the world premiere of “it’s been ten years since everyone died. a play about final girls,” about three survivors of an attempted attack by a group of cold-blooded killers.
THE READER’s Kerry Reid said of it, “Tirado-Ortiz’s story shows a playwright with promise and moxie."
Brian Kirst, writing for WINDY CITY TIMES, called it “...an original, noteworthy work. Those who love their horror delivered with a bit of progressive, wildly queer energy should definitely find much to rejoice in here, as well. Ortiz also incorporates non-binary and transgender characters into the mix here, allowing them elevation in a field of storytelling where they are often misrepresented or non-existent.... truly committed and often passionately rendered portrayals from their talented cast.”
Meet author Cesario Tirado Ortiz at this Sunday's matinee and stay for a talk-back with the author and cast after the show!

Teri Talo (they/them) is excited to be making their Directing Debut in the professional world, with this wonderfully horrid show. This follows their internship here at Open Space Arts, as the Assistant Director of Cock by Mike Bartlett, Directed by Wren Wesner. Teri is an actor first but has always had a fascination with directing. While earning their B.F.A in Acting at UIC, they had the chance to direct a self written play in a 10 minute play festival. Teri is also a devisor, having helped devise About Face's interactive performances of We Could Be. They are a teaching artist with Chicago Children's Theatre and an Actors Associate with Chicago Playback Theatre. As a Non-Binary, Borinquen/Mexican person, they are excited to continue to represent their brown alphabet siblings. Using the power of art as a form of protest. They would like to give a special thank you to their beautiful Fiancé who continues to inspire and support their wild dreams.
