Open Space Arts Presents the American Premiere of the London Hit GANGSTA BABY
JEFF RECOMMENDED and extended to October 19, 2025
Open Space Arts is thrilled to present the American premiere of GANGSTA BABY, a bold and deeply personal drama from London.
Directed by acclaimed UK artist Rikki Beadle-Blair (MBE), this unflinching new production will run in our intimate 30-seat theatre at 1411 W. Wilson Avenue.
Written and performed by Cameron Raasdal-Munro, GANGSTA BABY follows Junior, a young gay sex worker in the working-class city of Hastings, UK, as he navigates a volatile and complicated relationship with his homophobic gangster father. With searing honesty, the play tackles urgent issues—sex work, addiction, classism, and internalized homophobia—through the lens of queer identity and masculinity.
Celebrated for its raw power and fearless storytelling, GANGSTA BABY has earned major honors, including "Fringe Show of the Year" and "Best Male Performer of the Year" for Raasdal-Munro’s electrifying performance. Critics praise it as “uncompromising,” “visceral,” and “impossible to forget.”
This Chicago premiere will feature Raasdal-Munro alongside a talented local cast, bringing this urgent and socially resonant story to a whole new audience.
Advisory: This production includes sexual content, non-consensual acts, physical violence, flashing lights, and non-toxic theatrical haze.
