Open Space Arts, located at 1411 W. Wilson Avenue in Uptown, is available for small rehearsals, auditions, classes, meetings, workshops, readings, screenings, one-time events, and intimate performances.
For performances, the space seats up to 29 people. For rehearsals, classes, workshops, and meetings, it generally works best for groups of about 10 people or fewer, depending on the setup.
Weekdays before 6 p.m.: $20 per hour
Evenings and weekends, 6–10 p.m.: $25 per hour
Performance rentals include access to the lighting and sound boards. Technical personnel are not included, so renters should provide their own operator when lighting or sound cues are required.
Sunday through Wednesday evenings: $100 per performance
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees: $150 per performance
Performances must end by 10 p.m. For all rentals, the space must be completely vacated by 10:30 p.m.
The space is strictly non-smoking.
Open Space Arts is an intimate storefront space located three steps below street level and is not ADA accessible.
There is a support pole in the middle of the room, which can be seen in photographs of the space. Amenities include a kitchenette area with a microwave and refrigerator and one single-occupancy bathroom.
There is no separate lobby, changing room, backstage area, or waiting room. Guests enter directly into the performance or rehearsal space. A small changing or waiting area can sometimes be arranged within the room, but renters planning auditions or callbacks should be aware that everyone may need to remain in the same room.
There is no piano.
Open Space Arts is located at 1411 W. Wilson Avenue, just east of Clark Street. Nearby businesses include Walgreens, Staples, coffee shops, restaurants, and bars.
Free street parking is often available in the surrounding neighborhood, which does not require residential parking permits. Metered parking is available along parts of Wilson Avenue and Clark Street and is free on Sundays.
The Clark Street bus stops at Clark and Wilson. The Wilson Red Line station is approximately a 10-block walk east of the space. Bike racks are available in front of the building and near the corner.

Full payment is due before the rehearsal, performance, or event begins.
For an extended rehearsal period or a multiple-date rental, a $100 deposit can hold the space for up to two weeks. The remaining balance must be paid before the first scheduled use of the space.
A simple rental agreement can be provided when needed.
