UNSPOKEN

Streaming August 5–19, 2026

Presented online by the QUEER EXPRESSION Film Festival

Germany | 2024 | Drama
In German and Polish with English subtitles

Directed by Piotr J. Lewandowski
Written by Piotr J. Lewandowski and Agnieszka Piwowarska

Seweryn, a 30-year-old musician, is on the verge of signing a contract with a record label. After a traumatic encounter following a concert, he finds himself confronting buried wounds that threaten his music, his relationship, and his sense of self.

The encounter disrupts Seweryn’s deep relationship with his girlfriend, Caro, and brings long-hidden memories from his past to the surface. As Caro struggles to understand the growing distance between them, Michael—a wealthy businessman driven by his own desires and version of the truth—remains entangled in their lives, with unpredictable consequences.

Set against the restless energy of Berlin, UNSPOKEN is a deeply personal drama about trauma, intimacy, shame, silence, and the difficult path toward healing. Berlin becomes more than a backdrop: vibrant yet isolating, crowded yet lonely, the city reflects the emotional distance separating the film’s three central characters.

Public awareness of violence against women and children has grown in recent years, while the experiences of male survivors remain far less visible. UNSPOKEN explores how unaddressed trauma can shape identity, relationships, desire, and the ability to speak honestly about the past.

As our understanding of gender, sexuality, and human relationships continues to evolve, QUEER EXPRESSION presents films that challenge familiar categories and make room for experiences that do not fit neatly within them. UNSPOKEN is not a traditional gay love story. It is a complex examination of male vulnerability, emotional repression, intimacy, and the ways love can be both healing and consuming.
